Truly God is good to Israel,
to those whose hearts are pure.
But as for me, I almost lost my footing.
My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.
For I envied the proud
when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.

You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.

Good Wednesday morning.

I hope you’re headed into a good day today, and every weekday morning at this time we stop to spend a little time with God. That means opening the Bible and listening to what God has to say to us with a heart open and in your mind saying to God, I’m listening. What do you want to say to me today?

Well, all this week we’re talking about why your daily time with God in the Bible is so important.

And I encourage you to go way beyond simply joining in at this time each weekday morning to hear a little thought from Scripture and to meet with God, but also in your own personal life that you start opening the Bible each day and saying to God, I’m listening. What do you have to say to me today?

And then reading and responding to Him in prayer just about what He’s saying to you about your life. Build your relationship with God through your time with Him.

We’ve seen on Monday that God’s perspective in His word, the Bible, always gives you hope, and we need God’s perspective in life. Yesterday we saw that God’s word gives you a basis for making life decisions as you begin to see life from his perspective.

And today, I want to take you to a passage in the New Testament, in the book of 2 Timothy in the Bible, chapter 3, starting in verse 16. Here’s what it says.

All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. So that the man of God may be complete and equipped for every good work.

Well, there’s a lot of reasons in there, aren’t there, of why God’s word each day is going to be beneficial for you, and we could have spent all week just unpacking this one passage, but I want to just focus in on the first few words of these verses where it says all scripture is breathed out by God.

And here’s what I want to say to you, as why you should spend time with God in His word each day.

Because God Himself meets with you and speaks with you through His word.

Just catch what I said. God Himself, OK, not just some good truths for life I hear in God’s Word. Not just a good way of living is found here in the Bible, not just some interesting spiritual stories or stories with good morals in them are found in the Bible. No, stop and pay attention to this.

God Himself meets with you and speaks with you through His word.

All scripture is breathed out by God.

Well, God wants to speak into your life.

You can truly build a personal relationship with the God of the universe.

Well, why would God be interested in me, you know, he’s so powerful. He created this whole universe. There’s billions of people. Who knows how many of them are praying to him right at this second? How is God paying attention to me? Well, this is the amazing character of God. He is infinite. It doesn’t strain him to listen to a billion people talking to him at the same time. He is not bound by time. He stands outside of time.

So he never runs out of time or concentration, he can pay full attention to you and what’s going on in your life, and you can know the God of this universe, as you bring your life in line with what he is on about, then you will experience his power at work in your life and through you in the lives of other people.

God Himself, yes, right now, even as we’re here in the middle of this radio spot, God Himself is speaking to you personally. Saying I want to meet with you. I want to speak with you through my Word.

So be sure and take time with God in His Word every day of your life.
