How do you determine what someone is worth? Look at an auction. There, the worth of an item is determined by one thing – the highest price paid, the highest bidder. You were bought from the auction block of sin more than 2,000 years ago when God paid the highest price for you – the life of His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you, willingly dying on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins. He loves you that much.

God wants us to be emotionally free to live our lives to please Him. It means putting your faith in Him. And Romans 10:11 says “”No-one who believes in Christ will ever be disappointed”. How wonderful is that promise. You don’t have to be a loser.

God says many times in the Bible that you are valuable to Him. In Matthew 6 Jesus taught us not to worry. And refers to the birds of the air that the Heavenly Father cares for. And Jesus said “They do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?” (v6).

He says a little sparrow will not die apart form the will of God “So don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows” ( Matthew 10:31). I have said many times in the segment over the years that your sense of value is not based on how popular or successful you are .. you are a child of the most High God. Because you have been created by Him,you are unique, and have something to offer to this world that nobody else has. I guess you’ve heard people put themselves down ..”I’m too slow,I’m so fat,I’m not pretty enough,I’m not smart enough”. We need to stop doing that. We have intrinsic value .. that means stop obsessing about your faults and give yourself a break. Every person has weaknesses. Even the great men and women of the Bible made mistakes, some serious. But that didn’t stop God from loving them, blessing them, and using them to do great deeds. You may think “I’m just a loser”,but there’s a lot that is right with you. The best news of all is that God knows everything about you, good and bad,and He still loves you unconditionally. He may not always approve of your behaviour ..but nothing you do will ever cause Him to love you less or more. His love is constant, and you can depend on that.

If I were to hand you a new $100 note. Would you want it? You probably would. Then, what if I took it and crumpled it up so it didn’t like as good as the day it came out of the mint. Would you still want it? Yes you would. But if I took it onto the road and stomped all over it,and it was dirty, stained and soiled … would you still want it? Yes. It is still valuable despite the rough treatment it has experienced. $100 is $100. It doesn’t lose its value simply because it gets old,or is not as pretty as it once was,or has taken some bumps and bruises in life. That’s the way God sees each one of us. We all go through challenges and struggles. Sometimes we feel like that $100 note, crumpled and dirty. But we never lose our value. Our value has been placed in us by the Creator of the universe, and nobody can take it away from us ..

God is not focused on our faults .. He’s not keeping a list of your shortcomings. He is not looking at everything you’ve done wrong over your whole life .. He’s looking at what you’re doing right .. that you have made a conscious decision to be better,to live right,to trust Him. You have a desire to know Him better. Get in agreement with God and start feeling good about who you are. You may have some areas in which you need to improve,as we all do ..but you’re making progress.
