Computers are very much part of life today – for nearly everyone. I don’t know what the figures show, but my guess is there are millions of people in this country who own and use a computer. They are part of everyday life now,and whether you like it or not, they’re here to stay. And some people struggle with the terminology and don’t know how to use them. I think the only way to learn how is to actually use one,and usually you can get the hand of it. We talk about IT – information technology – and it’s a different world with terms and names which are different, and not used in everyday language,,like RAM and mouse .. and downloading onto the computer .. and we often ask ‘how much memory does this computer have”? And then we may worry about the original source – does it have a virus, and will it be compatible with my system?

In thinking about computers today,I want to say something very simple. There is one download we never have to worry about whether we have a high speed connection or not .. we can rest assured the divine download – the one that comes from God Himself- is reputable, and will never do you harm. And God’s love is always being downloaded to us,24/7 as they say. It’s free ( no monthly fees) with no errors. And that is wonderful news. So I wonder if you have made room for God’s download of love?

What does God’s love  look like or feel like? Sound like or taste like? You see,God’s love is in everything that we experience. Did we open up our eyes this morning-God’s love. Did we get out of bed,say hello to a loved one,get dressed, eat breakfast, and travel safely to work or a doctors appointment .. that’s an expression of God’s love.

But the problem is that  we get in the way in so many different ways. We question,”No,God couldn’t continue to love me after what I did-?” I’ve done the wrong thing .. does He still love me?

We doubt. “How can there be a God when all this bad stuff is happening across the globe?”

Sometimes we get in the way of downloading God’s love though our thoughts, our beliefs, and our actions. . we limit this divine download ..

How can we build this special relationship with God?
There’s a poem I came across called ..”The Computer User’s Reboot Poem”

Hope 103.2 is proudly supported by

Don’t you wish when life is bad
and things just don’t compute,
That all we really had to do
was stop and hit reboot?

Things would all turn out ok,
life could be so sweet
If we had those special keys
Ctrl,Alt,and Delete

Your boss is mad, your bills not paid,
your wife,well she’s just mute
Just stop and hit those wonderful keys
that make it all reboot

You’d like to have another job
but you fear living in the street?
You solve it all and start anew,
Ctrl,Alt,and Delete

That’s a good poem – and those 3 computer words fit well ..

1. Control; 2. Alt; 3. Delete.

Step 1 Control

Back in 1986 Janet Jackson sang a song called “Control” ..
“This is a story about control,my control
Control of what I say, control of what I do
And this time I’m gonna do it my way
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do
Are we ready? I am? Cause it’s all about control
And I’ve got lots of it.”

In life we have to exercise control ..its about controlling what we say or do.  To tap into God’s love download we are called to control our thoughts by choosing love over fear. We exert control by making a conscious choice to know that our highest good is unfolding with our every breath. We demonstrate control in that we respond and not react. We affirm our control in that ultimately we know that we are in God’s hands and that we are being well taken care of.  That really is quite ironic-to affirm our control by acknowledging that God is in control.
