Sam’s Poem to Scissors

Today I pen words to you – marvellous invention
Though it’s true to use you requires careful attention
To run with you could endanger my feet
Though a rock might smash you, paper you beat

Who else can strike open plastic firm or mild
Or satisfy the most creative child
Or at Christmas time prove to be the unsung hero
Gliding through paper with a tear chance zero

Though often requiring parental supervision
You let me get crafty with precision
For you can turn paper into blizzards
So thank you, pair of sharp scissors
