“For you’ve stayed in my fridge like you’re sleeping over, so thank you, ready-to-reheat meal of food leftover.” This week, Sam Robinson brings us a poem to everyone’s friend in the fridge – the great leftovers.

Sam’s Poem to Leftovers
Work tasks achieved, it’s time to clock off
It’s felt like years since school drop off
But it’s hard to finish the day feeling like a winner
When you’ve run out of energy to cook any dinner.
There’s often a temptation to get take away,
Or have breakfast for dinner – a weekend mainstay
But tonight there’s no need to compromise on health
Due to the careful planning of my own past self
Because when getting home late, or I’ve no inspiration
The recollection of you creates great jubilation
For you’ve stayed in my fridge like you’re sleeping over
So thank you, ready-to-reheat meal of food leftover
