It might be hard to think back to the end of last year and the beginning of this year, but before coronvirus, there were two other issues front and centre for the people of NSW – the drought and bushfires.
And, in the midst of it all, your community radio station was also hosting its November ‘Hope Worth Sharing’ Appeal – an unprecedented event that was paused for a day of prayer as our community faced its first ever catastrophic bushfire warning.
Now, we have news worth sharing. Our drought-relief campaign, Kids to Camp, which saw Hope 103.2 listeners sponsor more than 500 kids from drought-affected regions throughout NSW to attend a fun Scripture Union youth camp of their choice; bushfire coverage and ‘Hope Worth Sharing’ November Appeal have been announced as finalists for two different media awards — the 2020 CBAA Community Radio Awards and the 2020 CMAA Excellence in Media Awards.
“What a brilliant example of Hope listeners doing amazing things! In truth, it’s our listeners who are the finalists. It’s such a humbling testimony that listeners not only keep Hope on air – but reach out across our nation to support families impacted by fire and drought in two separate awards programs,” Hope Media general manager and chief content officer Dwayne Jeffries said.
The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) champions community broadcasting by building stations’ capability & creating a healthy environment for the sector to thrive.
