January in Sydney: It’s the month of festivals, fireworks, outdoor cinema and live music. It’s also fast becoming the month for visiting US Christian bands.
After sold-out shows featuring Citizens & Saints and Kings Kaleidoscope in January 2017, Sydney now welcomes the return of New York indie worship band, The Brillance for one night only Wednesday 24 January 2018 at Newtown Mission.
In a world where hate is the language of the day, it’s easy to give in to despair. In the midst of New York City, one of the USA’s most diverse and socially involved cities lies a musical collective creating art that’s counter-cultural.
David Gungor & John Arndt – otherwise known as The Brilliance, share a brotherly bond since childhood when their fathers played in a wedding band together in the ’70s. Throughout college, they made music together in a variety of bands. Eventually, David wanted to write original music, so he sent some ideas to Arndt, and a unique musical journey began as the two, along with an ensemble of musician friends, began recording under the moniker of The Brilliance. Inspired by neoclassical music, their sound is built on piano and string arrangements and rarely follows traditional pop form.
SPARC presents The Brilliance at their only concert in Australia.
