Listen: Erin La Macchia chats about the arrival of her twin girls, Frankie and Mia.
If you’ve been on the edge of your seat waiting on the arrival of the La Macchia twins, you can now exhale. Hope 103.2 announcer Erin La Macchia has given birth to two healthy, thriving identical twin girls.
Erin and her husband Sam have named the girls Francesca Christina – affectionately known as Frankie – and Mia Evangeline.
Erin, who chatted to Emma on air this week, went into hospital early when her waters broke and the girls arrived a week earlier than expected.
“I knew that I was likely going to have a Caesarian, so part of me was thinking ‘it’s a bit sad that I won’t get to experience labour’,” Erin explained, “but as it turns out I absolutely did—but I just thought I had this really bad back pain.
“On the Friday they got me to see the physio and were explaining ‘you’re carrying twins, so you’re going to have a bit more pain’…but by the evening they were saying ‘Oh actually, you’re in labour!’
“They say things like, ‘you’ll know labour, you won’t be able to talk through it’. But hey, guess what, I talk for a living! Of course I talked through it!”

Frankie and Mia “came out screaming” and are very strong and healthy, but as they were born prematurely, they’ll be spending some time in special care—so Erin and Sam appreciate their friends’ prayers.
“Please pray that we all do well to adjusting to the world outside the womb,” she said. “So far, so good! They’re very, very cute and little and it’s pretty new and exciting.“
Erin, whose journey to pregnancy took several years and much prayer, said she gets emotional when she thinks about how her dream to be a mum has finally come true. “We’re very thrilled and thankful to our well-wishers.”
