Do you ever find yourself wondering about etiquette when you’re out and about? Do you sometimes feel indignant when somebody rams their trolley in front of you at the supermarket checkout? Or when the person behind you at the movies is crunching popcorn in your ear?  What about on the roads? Do you expect a courteous ‘thank you’ wave after you’ve let somebody in ahead of you?

When people aren’t courteous to us, we notice.  But are we always thoughtful in our behaviour towards others when we’re out and about?

Ita Buttrose has enjoyed an extensive media career in Australian television magazines and newspapers.  Her new book, A Guide To Australian Etiquette offers timely advice for how to interact with others, whether it’s talking on your mobile phone on public transport, or at the office each day. 

But as Ita points out, good manners are really all about respect and consideration for others.
