In the history of mankind, a number of great revolutions have forever changed the way humans communicate. First, there was the invention of writing. Next came the printing press. And then, broadcast media.
Well now, according to Professor Jim Macnamara, we’re in the middle of another great revolution. It’s the revolution of social media.
Jim’s a Professor of Public Communication at the University of Technology Sydney – And in his new book, The 21st Century Media Revolution, says social media is changing society and culture as we know it.
Professor Macnamara talked to Sheridan Voysey about how this revolution has to be taken seriously as it is shaping the new face of business, advertising, journalism and politics, and highlights the dangers associated with social media change.
