As part of increasing concern about the sexualisation of children, there’s been an ongoing campaign to make all outdoor advertising G-rated. This is to protect children from over-sexualised imagery and adult concepts. Recently a federal enquiry looked into the issue.
Wendy Francis, State Director of the Australian Christian Lobby in Queensland, appeared before the enquiry, citing an example of a Brisbane boys school that had explicit ads for a strip club posted right outside the school grounds.
Wendy says the enquiry was very receptive to her evidence and that hopefully this time, the atmosphere is ripe for change.
