On October 16, more than a thousand people are expected to take part in the the Buddy Walk Sydney to raise funds and awareness for Down Syndrome.

Rita Harden is mum to 14-year-old Jacob, who has Down Syndrome.  She explains how the condition affects Jacob and talks about some of the challenges she faces as the parent of a Down Syndrome child.

For Jacob, one of the hardest things has been dealing with recess and lunch time in the school yard.  And while Rita worries about his future, she hopes he will be able to enjoy some kind of independent living as he gets older.

Listen Now – Rita shares what the Buddy Walk means to her and the importance of supporting each other
