Anti-slavery charity International Justice Mission (IJM) Australia says new CEO has a wide range of experience and is sure to help expand Australia’s global leadership and investment in ending slavery.

As IJM’s new CEO, David Braga has a big job ahead of him. Tasked with leading the world’s largest anti-slavery organisation through a new phase of growth and impact in the region, his 30+ years of experience will come in handy.

“I’ve been impressed by IJM’s proven model and long-term success in rescuing and restoring people, repairing broken justice systems to stop violent abusers, and making communities safe in some of the most vulnerable places in the world.
“I am very excited to join the IJM Australia team and contribute to this valuable work.”
Taking a collaborative approach to tackling these issues in partnership with government, the IJM Australia office is a critical link, working with the Australian government and law enforcement to bring about change.

“Modern slavery crimes, including the online sexual exploitation of children and trafficking into cyber-scamming, are rapidly growing in the Asia Pacific region,” IJM said in a release.
“Australia is a key target for scammers and one of the leading consumers of OSEC materials.
“As a leader within the region, Australians have the ability and opportunity to take firm preventative action and end these abuses through policy approaches and resource investment in solutions that actually work.”
Mr Braga has held senior management roles in banking and financial services, including working for J.P. Morgan in Australia and the UK, and leading BNP Paribas Securities Services in Australia and New Zealand as CEO.
Additionally, he has been heavily involved in his local church and other ministries including Tara Anglican School for Girls, Olive Tree Media and CRU.
