Public health orders will be tightened as part of a crackdown on people ignoring COVID rules.

NSW’s crisis cabinet has asked Police Commissioner Mick Fuller to strengthen police powers in response to breaches.

Police have begun to patrol Rookwood cemetery in Sydney’s west after several recent funerals violated public health orders by having more then 10 mourners.

Cemetery operators said they’re working closely with funeral directors and key faith groups, such as the Lebanese Muslim Association and the Greek Orthodox Church to implement COVID-safe practices.
