Guitarist Brian Welch is not a man to do things by halves. Music buffs may remember him as the guy nicknamed Head from the band Korn.
Through the late 1990s, his band forged a unique style of music that became known as nu-metal, and rose to incredible fame and fortune. Welch was the archetypal rocker whose dark, heavy guitar riffs expressed the anger of his generation.
But despite Korn’s huge success, in 2005, Welch shocked the music world. On the eve of a major tour, he announced that he’d been hiding a crippling drug addiction for years, that he’d now found faith in Jesus, and was leaving the band for good.
Welch is back on the music scene– still with his trademark long spiralled hair, tattoos and black eyeliner – but this time, with a very different mission.
