Yesterday was National Houseplant Day!

Sure it was national for America but we Aussies don’t mind celebrating some of their celebrations too, and we thought highlighting our favourite houseplants was a nice day to jump on board and take a break from the repetition of other news.

So we asked you on socials what your favourite type was and we loved the photos you shared.

“It’s taken me about 5 years to learn the name but the calathea rufibarba is like having a pet plant – it’s got a furry underleaf side! – and the red/green tone is pretty. It’s pretty low maintenance.” – Be

Add your favourite plant to the discussion

Someone once said you’ve got to “stop and smell the roses” every now and again, so this is our virtual way to lift some spirits and encourage others to “share their versions of roses” (aka whichever plants brings you the most joy right now) so we can all appreciate the beauty of nature together – even if apart.

Others threw in a few free plant-care tips

“Helps if you water it apparently… They also like sunlight.”

“Put it out in the rain occasionally.”
