The Pros and Cons of Your Coffee Habit As a nation Aussies spend $773 million on coffee, just for use at home, not to mention the 3 billion worth sold through cafes each year.

So how is all this coffee drinking affecting our health?

While caffeine provides some immediate benefits as a stimulant, there have also been a number of studies linking coffee to beneficial effects on cancer, blood sugar, mood and diabetes.  However, caffeine can also affect the way other nutrients are absorbed and in high doses can lead to anxiety and poor sleep.

With this in mind then, how much coffee is too much?

Catherine Istiopoulos is an Accredited Practising Dietitician and she talks about the health benefits and risks of caffeine and gives some useful guidelines about how much is OK to consume.
