It used to be easy to spot scammers in your inbox. Whether it was emails about princely inheritances or winning tickets to non-existent lottery draws, the fonts, colours and excessive emoji use always gave it away. But, scammers are getting smarter – and more Australians than ever are falling for their tricks.
In the first six months of 2022, Australians lost $295 million to scammers – double the amount as the same period last year.
