Love – Sam
Sam Freeland is part of Hope Media’s IT and Broadcast team. He also is a husband and father of three. He told Hope Mornings about the place of love in his life and how God’s love for the world, in Jesus, inspires Sam in his relationships.
Joy – Raewyn
Raewyn Elsegood is the former State Coordinator (NSW) for Sports Chaplaincy Australia. She shared with Hope Mornings about a devastating family tragedy and how it spurred Raewyn to still seek moments of joy, every single day.
Peace – Wayne
Wayne Forward is CEO of PeaceWise, a training and counselling service built on biblical principles for conflict resolution. Wayne told Hope Mornings about why PeaceWise is founded upon the peace that found in the Prince of Peace. Wayne also explained why this peace is different to any other form and how Fruit of the Spirit can be cultivated in our lives.
Patience – Ngaire
Ngaire Callaghan is upfront about patience being a difficult thing to measure in yourself. She told Hope Mornings that it is much easier to affirm God’s ability to develop ‘fruit of the Spirit’ in any of us.
Kindness – Penny
Penny Mulvey is Head of Communications at Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. She told Hope Mornings that kindness is something she has reflected upon more as the years go by. In stark contrast with the terrible treatment of women by some men, Penny believes kindness begins with how we view ourselves and others.
Goodness – Ali
Alison Cooke is founder and director of Wild Hive, a national team of marketing, communication and fundraising experts dedicated who serve the for-purpose and not-for-profit space. Ali told Hope Mornings about how goodness informs what she and Wild Hive do. Part of “Fruit of the Spirit” in Galatians 5, goodness is a deliberate choice to act for others, beyond profit and success.
Faithfulness – Andrew
Andrew Browning is an obstetrician and gynaecologist, and co-founded the Barbara May Foundation. Andrew told Hope Mornings that the life-saving work he does for African families is about obedience to God’s call. The strength Andrew has to be faithful comes by God’s Spirit, to always serve in love.
Gentleness – Mark
One part of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5) that doesn’t get a lot of air-time is gentleness. Mark Pullen is a Sydney teacher and his mates are unanimous – Mark is a gentle bloke. He told Hope Mornings about what gentleness means to him and how it could radically change our world. Gently.
Self-control – Vanessa
Vanessa McIntosh has lived through a lot. Marriage issues, alcoholism, sexual assault and suicidal thoughts. But as Vanessa told Hope Mornings, handing over her life to God was the start of new life. Vanessa explained how divine power set her free from addiction and what self-control means to her.
