Margaret Watt has an incredible true story to share about the difference she believes prayer made in her family’s life.
Someone who has been a big fan of prayer for a long time, Margaret vividly remembered the moment she was in a supermarket and could not go on.
Her adult son had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Relatively young and a single father of five, he was up against it when chemotherapy and additional infections forced him into ICU.
Margaret told Hope Afternoons about this traumatic time. A time when Margaret knew that family members, friends, their church community and people around the world she didn’t even know were all praying for his recovery.
“They just [brought] the focus to God on the need of my son,” Margaret said.
“It meant so much to us to know that you aren’t on your own and others are praying for you.”

Still, the weight of the uncertainty and emotional strain got to Margaret. On that day in her local supermarket, Margaret remembered raising her hands in the air and telling God, “Lord, if you are going to take him, we want you to take him now”.
“But as a mother, I don’t want you to,” she said.
Miraculously, her son’s condition did improve.
“I just believe God seeks and comforts all of us in many, many ways… especially through prayer.”
