“I lived a pretty rough lifestyle. I was involved in crime for a long time; drug trafficking and things like that,” Gerald told Hope Mornings.

Gerald offers no excuses nor attempts to hide from what he did.

Instead, the pastor serving Restore ministry at Beenleigh Baptist in Queensland gives credit for what radically transformed his life behind bars.

“I met a prison chaplain… and [he] started to talk with me about the gospel, forgiveness, grace and God’s love,” Gerald said.

“Every week on a Thursday, he would come in and I spent a lot of time asking questions about all this,” Gerald said.

“He started explaining about God’s grace and how I could be forgiven for all the things I had done.

“That was the big start for me.
