For singer-songwriter and 2012 Voice finalist, Brittany Cairns, Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year.
“When I think of Christmas, I think of a huge celebration, I think of a massive party where everyone is just so joyful and dancing around,” she says. “Christmas is just beyond incredible for me.”

This year, Brittany and her extended family will come together for a massive feast, lots of laughs, and to partake in the Cairns’ Christmas tradition.
“Once we’ve unwrapped gifts, we will literally scrunch up the paper into balls and just peg it at each other,” Brittany says, “and recently, we’ve started throwing food as well!”
But Christmas also offers a time for reflection.
“If I’ve gone through a hard year, Christmas always reminds me of what it was about and what was most important during that hard year”, she says, “and for me, that’s always Jesus.”
Brittany’s favourite Christmas Carol, which she will be performing at Christmas Hope Live, is Little Drummer Boy. When she read the lyrics to this carol a few years ago, Brittany was close to tears as she read the story of a little boy offer all that he had, his drum, to Jesus.
“He goes up to baby Jesus and he just says ‘can I play my drum for you?’ and it says that Jesus just smiled,” she says. “Jesus is so about the heart of the people and not what we have and not what we can give.”
