Let me introduce you to a couple of evangelists. They have some things in common: both have been church pastors, both are passionate about their beliefs, both have sought a rational basis for what they hold to, and both are actively sharing their beliefs with others. But that’s probably where the similarities end, because while one of our evangelists promotes the Christian faith, the other promotes atheism.
The Rev Dr Ross Clifford was a lawyer before entering full-time Christian ministry. Since then he has had a public career in education, politics and theology. He is the author or co-author of eight books, including Leading Lawyers’ Case for the Resurrection, and is principal of Sydney’s Morling College.
For nearly two decades Dan Barker was a Christian evangelist, before becoming an atheist. He pastored in Quaker, Pentecostal and Charismatic churches, wrote more than 100 Christian songs, and still receives royalties from two Christian children’s musicals he created. Today he is Co-President of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, and author of books like Losing Faith in Faith and Godless.
