Well-loved Australian actor Jay Laga’aia is fronting a new documentary on the stigma around literacy levels in adult Australians.
It’s easy to assume, here in Australia we have communication down pat. But did you realise 43 per cent of Australians do not have the necessary literacy skills needed for everyday life? That equates to about seven million Australians.
There’s a new documentary series on SBS called Lost For Words, which follows eight brave Australians who participate in a nine-week-long adult literacy program.
Host and narrator of the series Jay Laga’aia spoke to Hope Breakfast, encouraging Hope listeners to watch the show and also speak up if literacy is a real struggle, as it is with so many Australians.
