The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman is the sequel to the comic crime novel The Thursday Murder Club. Set in a retirement village, our four septuagenarians are drawn into a mystery involving diamonds, a violent killer, the mafia and MI-5. Former spy, Elizabeth, has a ghost from her past turn up, which is surprising because he’s supposed to be dead. Before you know it, the four friends are entangled with dangerous criminals and the bodies start piling up.
Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz – a crime fiction editor finds a real-life mystery hidden in the pages of the murder mystery she’s editing. Magpie Murders pays homage to the golden age of crime fiction and features a murder mystery within a murder mystery.
Apples Never Fall is the latest novel from Liane Moriarty. When retired tennis coach Joy Delany goes missing, her four adult children start to suspect their own Dad is hiding something. Is Joy’s disappearance related to the mysterious stranger who turned up on their doorstep last year? Or were things not quite as rosy as they seemed in the Delaney household?
