Danniebelle and Laura had so much fun when TAYA (AKA The Wonder Lungs!) visited the Hope Studio on Friday morning.
Key points:
- “…I feel like I will never be able to get away from writing about faith or having an underlying theme of trust,” TAYA said.
- ‘Gonna Be Good’ is based on Matthew 6: “All we need to do is just look up.”

They talked about family, music and all the fun things to come.
TAYA moved to Sydney over 15 years ago (which is when she and Danniebelle met!) where she found a church home, joined the worship team and then began travelling with Hillsong UNITED. Fast forward some years and she’s now married with a baby boy and living in California, with new singles on the way.
“…I feel like I will never be able to get away from writing about faith or having an underlying theme of trust,” TAYA said about her process of creating music.
Having the honour of bringing songs like ‘Oceans’ to the world was a whirlwind, she says, and took her to a place where she had nothing but God to lean on.
“…I feel like I will never be able to get away from writing about faith or having an underlying theme of trust,” TAYA said.
“It’s another layer of surrender, another layer of trust,” she said.
“It’s going to be something that hopefully will permeate all the seasons of my life, it’s something it’s really important.”
‘Gonna Be Good’ is based on Matthew 6 TAYA explains.
“I don’t know if maybe I had a bit of underlying worry creeping in… and in Matthew 6… it was saying look at the birds of the air, look at the lillies of the field… how crazy that your Heavenly Father knows more than you know what you need before you even ask.
“All we need to do is just look up.”
“Taya has always been in tune with the Spirit of God through her daily walk with God,” Danniebelle said of her close friend.
‘Gonna Be Good’ is based on Matthew 6: “All we need to do is just look up.”
“This has been evident when seeing her walk out the high and low seasons of her life with God as her anchor in every phase.
“She’s the greatest lover of people. I’ve seen this firsthand on trips globally and locally, remembering people’s names, family backgrounds and their stories. It’s a gift.
“She’s the same person on platform as she’s off, exuding joy and grace wherever she is.”
Affectionately nicknamed “Wonder Lungs” because of her incredible voice, TAYA is the curly blonde girl from Lismore who graced the Sydney shores back in 2010, skateboarding around Sydney’s beaches and working retail, who happened to find a church home with a global focus.
“That was when TAYA wasn’t just ours, we got to share her with the globe through music,” Danniebelle said.
“Taya inspires me when it comes to my walk with God, always keeping Jesus at the centre of everything she does.”
