Josh Havens from The Afters joined Hope Breakfast, giving insight into how COVID impacted his band and family.

Josh shared the inspiration behind his newest song, Say Goodbye (Say Hello).

“It’s about leaving behind the parts of yourself that are toxic and unhealthy,” Josh said.

“There are parts of ourselves that need to stay in the past. There are times that our struggles become our identity, but it’s really not who we are. It’s about leaving those things behind and stepping into the person you want to be, and the person God wants you to be.”

“I’ve seen it in my family, with my brother who was a meth addict for more than 10 years and I saw him leave that behind, and turn his life around. We don’t have to be stuck where we are. We can change the things about us we don’t like, and turn a situation around.”

Listen in the player above as Ally & Brendan introduce Josh to an “Australiana” coffee (coffee and milo) and gift him some Aussie slang, including a bachelor’s handbag and a dogs eye.
