It’s been a big year for Emma Mullings. As if a debut EP and a chart-topping single weren’t enough, now she’s won two major awards – at the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards on Wednesday night (October 26).

After walking the red carpet accompanied by hubby Terence and her new bub-to-be, Emma won the Christian/Spiritual category for her debut single Skinny Roads – from her EP of the same name. Then, to top off the night, Emma was (to her shock) handed the event’s top award, Artist of the Year – something she never dreamed of winning.

Running from the back of the venue to get to the stage, Emma gave an impromptu thankyou speech giving credit to God in front of the diverse music industry audience.

The AIMAs, which is the indie-scene equivalent of the ARIAs, was held at the Enmore Theatre and featured big names in the independent scene including rocker Richard Clapton and country singer Adam Kilpatrick.

Four of Emma’s songs from her EP were finalists in the Christian / Spiritual category, including Holding On, Love Unguarded, Worthy, featuring rapper Brad Sabat, and Skinny Roads – which was also a finalist in the pop category. Being named as a finalist in the AIMAS is prestigious and a feat in itself.

Her first worship song from the EP, Love Unguarded, is due to hit radio soon.
