Listen: Jhoanna Aguila launches her new single on Hope Breakfast
We first saw Jhoanna Aguila as a contestant on The Voice in 2014, now she’s back in the spotlight with her debut single, Got The Whole World.
The single, which Jhoanna co-wrote with her producer Jake Nauta, is being played on air at Hope 103.2 and marks the start of her solo recording career – something she’s long dreamed of.
Speaking to Hope Media’s breakfast announcers Dan and Dwayne, Jhoanna said the song was about trusting in God when she is afraid.
“It’s pretty much about the process that goes through my head in the lead up to going on stage,” she said.
“There’s a lot of pressure behind it. Singing’s fine – that’s the easy bit. But what goes through your head and the nerves and the pressure, that’s pretty much what the songs about. And how God’s got your back through the whole thing.”
She said the single, which is available on itunes and Google Play, took about three months to come together, from writing to release.
Jhoanna auditioned for The Voice 2014 singing the song You’ve Got The Love, which turned the heads (and chairs) of three coaches – Will.i.am, Kylie Minogue and Joel Madden.
Her choice of coach was Will.i.am, the American rapper-artist-producer. She lost her place in “Team Will” a few episodes later during her Battle Round, but was ‘saved’ by coach Kylie Minogue, eventually being eliminated after her performance of the Alicia Keys hit, Fallin’.
Jhoanna spent 18 months working at Hope 103.2, and in 2015 left the station to pursue a music career full time.
During her Hope Media interview, the breakfast team handed her a unique “musical challenge”: to set the lyrics of the Playschool theme, to Jessie J’s song Price Tag.
She did it in style…
Jhoanna’s Youtube Channel features a series of music video song covers, including Ghost, Rather Be, and Rock With You.
