Once again, Sydneysiders can enjoy some provocative artwork while soaking up the views of one of Sydney’s favourite coastal walks.
Sculpture by the Sea is one of Australia’s most high profile public art events. The event’s future has been in doubt in recent years due to financial troubles, but thankfully the show will go on.
Like the Archibald Prize, Sculpture by the Sea brings art to the masses. Part of the intention of Founding Director David Handley was a desire to promote Australian artists to the world, all against the backdrop of Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. In the era of Instagram and facebook, when photos can be uploaded instantly, it’s a spectacular viral publicity machine.
Sculpture by the Sea can be enjoyed all day, every day until November 10.
