Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, Jake Sully, Neo.  Why do so many Hollywood films, especially those aimed at boys, feature unlikely heroes? 

According to Duncan Robinson, they are all just pale imitations of Jesus.  The former Sydney-based youth pastor, now in the US, encourages young men that just like many of the unlikely heroes in the Bible, they too can do great things for God.
