You’ve heard of PhDs in science, medicine and education but have you ever heard of a PhD in confectionery?
That’s what one Queensland woman is working hard to complete – Toni Risson is a children’s author and former teacher, who has a particular interest in cultural history and contemporary Australian life.
Her doctoral thesis looks at the history of lollies in Australia, and how they reflect social change. She recently shared her fascinating findings at an international pop-culture conference in Sydney.
