The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, have announced they are expecting another child.
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the news saying, “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child”.
The couple’s first son, Archie, will turn two in May this year.
Photographer and longtime friend of the couple, Misan Harriman, also released a black-and-white photograph. alongside well wishes for the growing family.
“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news,” Mr Harriman wrote.
In the photograph, which was taken remotely using an iPad, Harry and Meghan can be seen smiling at each other as Meghan cradles a visible baby bump.

The news comes following an essay penned by Meghan Markle in the New York Times last year in which she revealed she had experienced a miscarriage in July.
“I knew as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” she wrote.
“Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”
The essay drew praised from families who had experienced miscarriage themselves for drawing attention to the grief of losing a child.
Now, many are celebrating the news she is pregnant again.

Harper’s Bazaar royal editor Omid Scobie also noted that the Valentine’s Day announcement came on the same day the late Princess Diana announced she was pregnant with Prince Harry.
Sharing a photo of the front page of the Daily Express from 1984, he wrote, “It was exactly 37 years ago that Princess Diana shared with the world that she was pregnancy with Prince Harry”.

The British Royal Family were informed of Meghan’s pregnancy prior to the couple’s announcement and a spokesperson has revealed that the whole family is “delighted”.
