Listen: Hillsong's Global Worship and Creative Pastor Cass Langton talks with Ben McEachen about the meaning of Christmas
For the first time in a few years, churches across Greater Sydney and New South Wales look set to be able to really celebrate Christmas – with limited restrictions in place.
One of Australia’s biggest church networks, Hillsong, is gearing up to offer loads of festivities this Christmas.
Hope Afternoons spoke with Hillsong Global Worship and Creative Pastor Cass Langton in the days leading up to the first community Christmas events conducted by Hillsong throughout December.
Cass was excited about the lighting of lights at Hillsong’s Sydney Hills campus at Castle Hill, and this year’s return to sharing Christmas together – in person.
Daggy Christmas jumpers are an optional extra, apparently.
But Cass also shared how she loved the opportunity afforded by Christmas, to go big on the good news of great joy to the world.
“It is one of the most significant celebrations in the Christian calendar,” Cass said.
“It is the story of God becoming man and that is probably the most surprising, beautiful and incredibly confronting story ever.
“But it is one of good news to all humankind, like the angels said.
“For us, Christmas is a time to celebrate God’s gift of Jesus to us and the incredible impact that has on our community as a whole, and our community of faith.”
