From the videos coming out of our Amazing Hope Advent Calendar lately, you may get the impression that our On-Air team don’t know how to do anything but laugh at themselves.

Today, they get a little more serious with a gorgeous poem by Sean Barnes, about the meaning of Christmas.

The Little Man Of Christmas Day

December is upon us now, It is that time of year,
When the air is all abuzz, And full of Christmas cheer

As we enter this busy holiday season,
You will find, I believe, that we all have a reason,

To be happy, and jolly and all full of laughter,
To search for that thing, that we all seem to be after.

For some it’s the prezzies, or time with the “fam”,
Or maybe it’s mum’s awesome honey-baked ham.

Perhaps it’s just sitting, stuffed full of food,
Or the Boxing Day test, to which all eyes are glued.

It’s time with our loved ones, be they family or friend,
And “Hooray! The working year has come to an end!”

But Chrissy ain’t just about the glitz and the glam,
It’s all about the story of one important little man.

Yes, Christmas is about the birth of this one special guy—
A bub they called the King of Kings, the Saviour from on high.

He came to us a baby, born to Mary in miraculous glory,
Amongst cows and goats and three wise men, says the Bible story.

He came to save the world from sin, He’s the Saviour, Son of God,
He also came to die for us, To some that might seem odd;

But yes, it’s true, I say to you – this tale of Christ’s birth,
And though it happened long ago, It’s known throughout the earth!

So the greatest gift that you could give, is to tell someone of this truth,
And remind them of the Christmas tale, familiar from their youth.

So when Christmas Day upon us comes, and we’re gathered ’round the tree,
Remember Christ – born on this day, who died for you and me.
