How do you hold onto faith when life breaks your heart?
In John 16, Jesus famously tells His disciples to “take heart” because while we will all have troubles in this life, our peace comes from knowing that He “has overcome the world”.

It’s a practice that seems doable in theory but, when you’re in the throws of grief, pain and uncertainty, it can be easier said than done.
Musician Anthony Evans and his family know life’s troubles all too well, losing eight family members in quick succession over two years – all while the COVID crisis was brewing in the background.
One of four children to renowned pastor Dr Tony Evans, Anthony grew up in a family of faith and ministry (all of his siblings – including preacher and actress Priscilla Shirer – are Christian leaders in their own right), but when he faced loss after loss, faith was something Anthony both wrestled with and relied on.
On the latest episode of Hope 103.2’s UNDISTRACTED podcast, Anthony tells of the “divine disruption” his season of grief became, what he learned from the death of his matriarchal mother Lois and how he realised his emotions weren’t intellectually complete.
The Evans family shared their story in their new memoir Divine Disruption: Holding on to Faith When Life Breaks Your Heart.
