Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra Concert – Kenthurst
Berlin-based violinist Jakob Lehmann returns to Australia in August to lead an ensemble of specialist local and international chamber musicians through the expansive sounds and pioneering ideas of New Constellations.
The Octet for Strings was written when Mendelssohn was just 16, and is an illustration of how the performance techniques in early-Romantic chamber music were radically transformed. Brahms destroyed the nonet version of his Serenade, but based on archives and written accounts, the original chamber version has been brought back to life.

Journeys to leadership: Insights from research and practice – Macquarie Park
The need to identify and suitably prepare teachers to undertake school leadership roles is now well documented in the literature. Similarly documented is the general concern about the lack of suitable applicants willing to consider these roles.
In a recent study, Dr McCulla raised the question of what might be learnt when a group of teachers drawn from executive, non-principal roles participated in a year-long, multi-phased leadership development program.
This evening will aim to explore the findings of the research and we will consider how aspiring leaders can respond to the challenges and possibilities of constant change and how they can be best supported in their preparation for leadership.

Theology Event: Why we need Jesus’ help with our sexualities – Newtown

Ed will share his experience in dealing with these issues, and show us that obedience to Jesus is ultimately the only way to experience life to the full. He’ll demonstrate that the Bible’s teaching seems unreasonable not because of its difficulties, but because of missteps that society and the church have taken in their understanding of the Christian life.

Theology Event: The Cosmos and the Classroom: Exploring Faith, Science and God – Summer Hill
In Gunning for God, John Lennox says, ‘The Bible teaches that creation is contingent; that is, God as Creator is free to make the world as and how he likes. Thus, in order to find out what the universe is like and how it works, we have to go and look’.
In this Agora event, Associate Professor Frank Stootman will explore the importance of science as a discipline to engender wonder in the universe that God has created and how it can affirm faith rather than deny it.
