MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) – Blacktown

At MOPS women meet together to be supported, encouraged and equipped as they raise the world together. Remarkable things happen when mums find their place in a mothering community and discover they are not alone.

Mums face unique needs, challenges and joys in this vital season of early mothering. At MOPS every mum is welcomed, accepted and encouraged to reach her potential and recognise her influence with her family and her world.

This happens child-free! While mums engage with the MOPS program, their babies and little kids enjoy on-site care and age-appropriate activities in MOPS Kids.

Exposed: The effect of pornography and sexualised media on students – North Parramatta

A broad body of international research describes numerous negative outcomes from an adolescent’s exposure to pornography.

Some of these effects include adapting attitudes of sexual objectification, increased sexual aggression, increased positivity towards uncommitted sexual exploration, negative gender attitudes, compulsivity and addictive behaviours, reduced self-esteem and increased sexualised behaviours on social media. All of these add up to a worrying trend among our young people.

In this Agora, Rev. Marshall Ballantine-Jones will explore some of the current research being undertaken and look at ways that our schools can begin to address this issue. Please register online.

A very short course in Christian ethics – Newtown

Our tagline at the Centre for Christian Living is “bringing biblical ethics to everyday issues”. We’ve done by that by addressing a very wide range of “everyday issues” over the years.

But now we’d like to do explicitly something we’ve been doing implicitly: teaching you how to bring biblical ethics to every issue, whatever it might be. We’ll be teaching a simple framework for bringing the Bible’s view of reality to how we should live in the midst of reality day by day. We want to teach you, in other words, how to do “Christian ethics”.
