Feeling Anxious? You're Not Alone - Hope 103.2

Feeling Anxious? You’re Not Alone

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia, according to Beyond Blue – affecting 1 in 4 Australians at some stage in their life.

So, it’s important to recognise that you are not alone in your anxiousness, you can find yourself experiencing it whether you have a strong faith or not, and there are support services and resources available if life ever feels too overwhelming.

You may be at a different stage of anxiety to the person next to you, who may also be struggling with this same mental health condition but we hope you can find something encouraging and useful in the following collection of Bible verses, articles, interviews, devotions and shared stories.

Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

Psalm 23

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
